List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Live Journal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
1. Bloc Party - The Prayer
2. TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me
3. A Plus D - Love Will Tear You Apart (She Wants Revenge vs Joy Division vs Bauhaus)
4. Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - The High Party
5. Spoon - The Beast & Dragon, Adored
6. The Weakerthans - Without Mythologies
7. Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor

I was informed tonight that I am no longer permitted to sing anything by Fergie. Oh shit!

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
romard sent to me...
Twelve insults drumming
Eleven hippies piping
Ten drugs a-leaping
Nine kilts dancing
Eight psychedelics a-milking
Seven hallucinogens a-writing
Six mangoes a-trainspotting
Five do-o-o-ouglas adams
Four star wars
Three human rights
Two smashing pumpkins
...and a counterculture in a philosophy.

This is my second time taking this test. The first time I didn't really read the instructions, and got the same result that Marg did. The one with the flesh tasting.

Three days without sleeping? Well that's just crazy talk. As thoroughly amazing as I am in bed, even I can't do that.
Speaking of sleep, I should be doing that, I have to be at work in six and a half hours. Also, kinda drunk.

So I walked into Read's today for a latte...

and nothing out of the ordinary happened.
In other news, there was no hassle whatsoever about returning the LP of The Crane Wife at Backstreet. I exchanged it for the CD version, as well as Freak Out! by Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention. I refrained from buying The Tragically Hip's Day For Night and Elton John's Empty Sky, in a half-assed effort to cut down on my pre-Xmas spending. In order to render this effort completely useless, I later went to Chpaters, renewed my iRewards card, and picked up a study guide for the A+ certification. Soon I shall master it, write the exam, and then I'll be able to open a computer case without voiding the warranty.

So I wlked into Read's today for a latte...
Dec. 15th, 2006 | 06:06 pm
music: Decemberists - The Perfect Crime #2
and walked out with a part-time job. Also, the aforementioned latte.
In celebration, I picked up The Crane Wife by The Decemberists (on vinyl), Lifted, Or The Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground by Bright Eyes, and The Madcap Laughs & Barrett by Sid Barrett.
Edit: There's a huge scratch on side three of The Crane Wife, during When The War Came. The problem persists on side four during The Crane Wife 1 &2. I'm going to have to try to return the album. Fortunately Backstreet Records doesn't seem like the sort of place that's going to give me a hard time about returns. They had the album on CD as well, so I'll have to try to work that into the exchange.

Type "Mike is" (but make Mike your name, and INCLUDE the quotation marks) into google, and add the best 10 things you can find. MINE ARE:
1. "mike is the sex"
2. Post an entry to your blog about how and why Mike is a big jerk
3. Now Mike is wrong in so many ways, I don't think I'll be able to list them ...
4. Mike is the Director of Apologetics & Interfaith Evangelism
5. Mike is a former LAPD narcotics investigator, whistleblower and a 1973 Honors Graduate of UCLA in Political Science.
6. The point is that mike is a CSS Ninja and he has just climbed up the Eifel tower and invited us all to join him.
7. Mike is not one of your average DJs.
8. Mike is a Grammy-award winning mandolinist who is considered the authority on Monroe-style mandolin.
9. Tall Mike is an [Enemy Combatant], 21 years old, Male, Little Mexico, ARIZONA, US, Growing like a tree since 1985.
10. Mike is both lazy and gay
I tried it with "Romard is" as well, but only got seven decent results. Three of these are related to me, one of which is from my livejournal, another is from a triolet contest (which at one point turned into a triolet duel), and the other is from the introduction to a short documentary style film about me that Carmy Joseph did, which I still haven't seen. Also, I proved the introduction inaccurate, as I technically still haven't graduated.
1. ROMARD is an annual journal of medieval and non-Shakespearean Renaissance drama, focusing on theatre and textual history.
2. Romard is asking how goes this lame seduction. ... Romard is asking for poetical unmasking and a little more production, ...
3. After seven years at St. Thomas, Mike Romard is finally graduating.
4. Romard is taken away in the back-firing car to learn a lesson he will never forget.
5. Romard is the only bird that can swim but not fly.
6. Romard is thrilled with the increased business.
7. I'm responsible fiscally for what's going on in this province as much as Ripper Romard is in his way or Otto White when he was alive or Gary MacDonald ...

Salsa? Awesome.

Salsa on my keyboard? Not so awesome.
So when I get up tomorrow, I'm set for a fun day of popping all of the key off of my keyboard, gently cleaning it, and then trying to see how many of them I can put back into place before I need to consult KJ's keyboard to see where they're supposed to go.

well that was awkward
Dec. 3rd, 2006 | 07:45 am
So, I misread my schedule, and I was not, in fact, supposed to work at 7 this morning. Rather, my shift starts at 9. I found this out when I showed up at 7 this morning, right after the owner and the cops showed up (I was literally just a few steps behind them) because someone had tripped the alarm. There was no one else around. Awkward, awkward, awkward. Especially given that I'm not a huge fan of cops.
Also, I'm pretty pissed at myself for getting up at 5:30 now. And although I do think dawn is a pretty time to be walking around town, I"d rather not do it again until spring if I don't really have to.
Breakfast now.

U
Dec. 1st, 2006 | 03:58 pm
Comment, and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter in your journal and give out some letters of your own.
I got U!
01. Ummagumma, a Pink Floyd double-LP. The first album is four live tracks, including Astronomy Domine and Careful With That Axe, Eugene; the second album consists of studio tracks, including Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict, which I think may be the greatest song title ever.
02. Ubuntu linux, a very user-friendly linux distribution, and possibly the most popular at the moment. A great starting point for those who are curious about linux.
03. Upton Sinclair, for writing The Jungle and exposing the filthy habits of the meat packing industry circa 1900.
04. [The] Universe, a swank place to live.
05. University life, because it was so damned much fun.
06. Underwater Cinematographer, by The Most Serene Republic.
07. Undying love, because I'm cheesy sometimes, and it's a pretty sweet concept.
08. Understanding satire, because I feel like an idiot on the occasions when I don't get it.
09. Ululation.
10. Underwear.
